ACU Plus: Decorating Specialtists for the Golf Market
Located in Levittown, ACU PLUS specializes in embroidery and screen-printing services using the most advanced technologies and experienced employees who expertly logo many types of merchandise. For Long Island’s golf community, ACU PLUS does countless shirts, hats, golf towels, and more, with a quick turnaround time to make sure the items are ready to be distributed at a special event. For instance, the firm works with many nonprofit groups as well as local fire and police departments on their fundraising golf events. Being an active member of several Chambers of Commerce around the Island helps ACU PLUS maintain a high profile with charity organizations.

Arthur Robbins purchased ACU PLUS in September 2008 after being a longtime client of the firm, buying various products over the years and getting to know the previous owner well. Coincidentally, “one day in early 2008 I said to my wife, ‘This would be a great business to buy’, Robbins says. “It was just an off-the-cuff remark, with no real thought that it would happen. Sure enough, six months later the owner mentions that she’s going to sell the business. I spoke to my wife, and we figured this could be a pretty interesting thing to do.”
The previous ownership started ACU PLUS in 1995 and focused exclusively on embroidery. They built a reputation as the finest custom embroidery company on Long Island. Robbins has expanded the company in many directions, including screenprinting of business logos for companies throughout the metropolitan area, PTAs, sports teams, and others. ACU PLUS now does sports team uniforms for high school and college baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse and soccer teams. They also have an extensive selection of lab coats and scrubs for the medical community. ACU PLUS prides itself on delivering outstanding customer service, short turnaround on all jobs, and low prices on its embroidery and screenprinting. Robbins says that  “the scope of our business has expanded from local to regional, with intentions to grow nationally.”

While Robbins finds it interesting to work on a variety of client projects, he gets much assistance from his brother-in-law Adam, whose family was in the textile business for 50 years. and whose three children play on sports teams on Long Island. Associate Tom Pistone is a member and former club champion at Rockville Links CC. As for his mixing of business and golf, Pistone says that “being a lover of the game, my goal is to be known as ‘Mr. Golf’ in the Long Island business community.”

To make it easier for customers, ACU PLUS accepts logo artwork via e-mail to begin the job, and can e-mail changes throughout the process as well. They have several artists in-house to help with any design needs. The product is not considered finished until it goes through a rigorous process of quality control, where it is checked by various employees. So whether its uniforms for a local soccer team, polo shirts for a company meeting, or golf hats and bags customized for a charity golf outing, ACU PLUS is the place to go. Visit for more info.
