QUARRY RIDGE GOLF CLUB, Portland, CT
Quarry Ridge is a true shot-maker’s delight, with dramatic elevation changes, an interesting mix of long and short holes and tricky greens. The course is regularly listed among the best in Connecticut and conditions are always top-notch.
Designed by Al Zikorus, this Portland track opened its lush fairways and greens in 1993 and is located on the site of an old quartz mine, which can still be seen from several holes. The layout winds along a scenic ridgeline and features some great views of the central Connecticut River valley.
The course plays only to around 6,400 yards from the tips, but there are a number of fairway elevation chances and narrow greens that will demand you employ every club in your golf bag.
New ownership is making every attempt to have Quarry Ridge mentioned along the top daily fee layouts in Connecticut. www.quarryridge.com • (860-342-6113)
