For a Great Vacation, the Pick is French Lick
Untitled Document

French Lick, Indiana.  Basketball enthusiasts know it as the birthplace of all-time great Larry Bird, but for the rest of us, the location has about the same significance as any other Midwest town, which is to say, not much.  Take a closer look, though, and you will find that French Lick shoots down the Midwestern stereotype in nearly every way.  This progressive town is a golfing hotspot just waiting to explode.
There are two hotels in French Lick that combine old-school ambience and modern amenities.  French Lick Springs Hotel and West Baden Springs Hotel each feature stunning architecture and regal interiors in a beautiful natural setting that will necessitate plenty of extra camera batteries for your trip.  The luxurious accommodations in French Lick are just the beginning of what makes the town an ideal vacation spot.  The quality of golf is tremendous, beginning with The Donald Ross Course at French Lick, an 18-hole championship golf course that was built by one of the most prolific and archetypal designers in golf history, Donald Ross.  The layout of the course recently underwent a $5 million restoration in order to match Ross’ original vision, and the result is a truly special test of golf.  Complementing Ross’ course is The Pete Dye Course, a scenic layout that recently opened.  Known for his dramatic layouts that challenge both the golfer’s physical and mental abilities, Pete Dye has authored some of the most thrilling layouts in recent memory.  Dye’s newest work serves as the perfect sister course to The Donald Ross Course.
For those who have never spent time in the Midwest, it may come as a shock that French Lick has all the trappings of a first-class resort destination.  People are starting to notice everything that French Lick has to offer, with the 2009 PGA Club Pro Championship and the 2009 International Network of Golf Spring Conference already booked to come to town.  Whether you make the trip for the excellent golf, the fine food, or the classy, comfortable accommodations, French Lick offers a vacation experience you will never forget.
