John Buccigross of ESPN
Looking for John Buccigross? You might find him playing golf at one of his favorite New England courses...or at the baseball diamond coaching his kids...or at the hockey rink enjoying the game with local youths. But the best place to find him is on your television sitting at the SportsCenter desk entertaining sports fans with his one-of-a-kind way of describing what happened in sports.

He may be hard to catch up with but watching him take you through a baseball highlight is well worth it. Buccigross joined ESPNEWS as an anchor in October 1996, and served as the primary host of NHL 2Night before moving over to SportsCenter. During the hockey season, he writes a column on the sport for

Prior to joining ESPN, Buccigross had been at WPRI-TV in Providence, R.I and, Cape 11 News, in Massachusetts. The native of Pittsburgh, Pa., received a communications/theater arts degree from Heidelberg College in 1988.

Is Golf a Sport ? Why or Why not? Seriously? Next question.

Why Golf for you? As a walker, it requires no electricity, no battery, no beeps, buzzers, or scoreboards. Also, it's fun.

Describe your game: Since my first pass at a golf ball, I have tried my best on every shot.  Every shot means the world to me. Also, my score very rarely varies. I go low once or twice a year,  and I don't go real high.  I continually regress to my mean over 18 holes.

Equipment: Taylor Made woods, irons and putter.  Vokey wedges.  Titleist Pro V1 or Taylor Made Red.

Upcoming Golf Trip: Scotland next summer.

What Do You Do When You Can’t Play? Read, shower my wife and three kids with affection, go to the gym, eat meat, nap, and anchor Sportscenter.
