Samoset Resort on the Ocean in Rockport, Maine
Just south of Camden, Maine cradled between lush green hills and the blue waters of Penobscot Bay lies the Samoset Resort Hotel, a perfect retreat for a getaway, family vacation or group outing. A legendary landmark, the recently restored Samoset Resort Hotel continues a tradition of gracious hospitality and service reminiscent of a bygone age. Open year round, the 230 oceanside acre resort hotel offers championship golf , four-diamond dining , luxurious guest rooms and first class resort amenities for your Maine vacation.

Samoset's 18-hole championship golf course will delight both the serious and recreational player. The course meanders along the coast and through the woods, boasting seven oceanside holes and ocean vistas from 14 holes. The golf complex includes a clubhouse with an indoor/outdoor grille, golf range, practice green, short game facility with bunkers and private or group instruction. Designed by Robert Elder in 1902,  the course features some of the most spectacular views of Penobscot Bay.  Recent upgrades by Maine architect Bradley Booth have strengthened the resort's reputation of having a premier championship layout. In addition to the newer 18th, the par-five 4th, Samoset's legendary signature hole that plays alongside Penobscot Bay, has undergone extensive enhancements to the green and surrounding area. The hole now boasts an impressive stone seawall that encompasses the contoured green with added bunkers and elevation. Coupled with the redesigned 185-yard par-three 5th hole (formally a par-four), featuring a demanding uphill slope and a tee box located directly above the seawall on Penobscot Bay, playing to a heavily bunkered bank to front sloping green, the golf course has certainly increased its ability to challenge golfers.

All existing 178 hotel rooms and suites feature complimentary wireless internet, king or queen beds and other luxury amenity products. Each guest room has either a private balcony or terrace overlooking the ocean or the awarding winning golf course. Pools, tennis courts and hiking trails are some of the recreational amenities, and Marcel's restaurant always features fresh Maine lobster.
