The residents of the quaint town of Falmouth on the southwestern shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts are very fortunate indeed.
They have access, for very reasonable greens fees, to one of the best golf facilities in the area--Falmouth Country Club.



The town-owned club features 27 holes of great golf--an 18-hole, par-72 course and the nine-hole “Talon” layout that appeals to players of all abilities.
Of course, non-residents can also indulge in the delights at FCC. The club is open year-round (weather permitting) and is at its best spring through autumn, when the lush fairways turn a verdant green and the putting surfaces roll smooth and pure.
A ride or walk along FCC’s holes is somewhat of a “Carolina” golfing experience when the breezes blow off the Atlantic Ocean and the sun bounces off the tall pines that line much of the layout.
FCC is managed by Billy Casper Golf, which has had a lease to run the property since 2005.
“Falmouth Country Club is a great facility,” said Brian O’Hare, regional vice president for Billy Casper Golf. “It is always in fantastic shape and priced to appeal to everyone, very reasonable for residents and mid-level priced for non-residents.”
He continued, “The great thing about Falmouth is that we have an 18-hole golf course for those who want a full round and are perhaps better players, and a nine-hole facility that is wonderful for the family.”
Falmouth offers a program where children under the age of 17 play for free when accompanied by an adult.
“In these days, some clubs are unwilling to adjust their prices for juniors on the weekends,” said O’Hare. “We don’t believe in that. We have a lot of parents bring their children out and play the nine hole course,” said O’Hare. “The kids are free program is seven days of the week. That’s the best thing about having the 18-hole and nine-hole courses. It allows us to conduct special programs like this while not disturbing normal play.”
O’Hare called Falmouth Country Club a “community golf course” in every sense of the word, and said that Bill Casper Golf takes great strides to enhance that reputation in order to keep the local customers happy and attract new business.
FCC’s Championship Course is a very good and pleasurable test of golf. It plays 6,665 yards from the tips and has a par of 72. There are a nice mix of short, mid-length and long par-fours that will have you hitting every club in your bag, both off the tees and on approaches to the medium-sized greens.
There are three par-fives on the back side of the Championship Course, including the 500-yard 15th, which can be reached in two by long hitters.
If you’re lucky, you will catch a glimpse of a pair of ospreys patrolling the water from their nest near the 10th hole. Sprays of beach grass that lines the bunkers on the neat, 151-yard par-three 12th hole imbue the setting with a definite feel of seaside links golf.
The Talon Course plays 3,455 yards from the tips and, despite its reputation as a “family” course, the track has quite a bit of bite, such as the monstrous, 495-yard par-four first hole. The fourth hole, a 295-yard par-four, can be reached by the big boppers.
“We had our best year yet in 2007,” said O’Hare, “and we’re real excited about this year.”
