Ashworth Golf Apparel
By Terrence Jordan | Published  03/12/2008 | Company Profiles | Unrated
Form, Function, and a Whole Lot More
Just as golf clubs and balls have made tremendous technological strides in the past two decades, so too has the golf apparel industry.  Leading the way is Ashworth Golf, an innovative company that is beginning its third decade as the shirt on golfers’ backs.  Ashworth’s new line is an exciting blend of old and new styles that will appeal to golfers of all ages and ability levels.

Ashworth has survived so long in the golf industry by adhering to a simple but effective philosophy: “Form follows function.”  Each of Ashworth’s items is designed first and foremost with playability in mind.  After all, what good is a golf shirt that you can’t golf in?  After creating a piece that offers the utmost in comfort and fit, Ashworth then implements its trademark style, with the end result being a good-looking, good-feeling shirt that any self-respecting golfer would be proud to wear on the course.
Ashworth’s 2008 line of golf shirts are all about the fabrics.  After extensive research, the company has settled on a select few “Technical Performance” fabrics that offer the ultimate in breathability, moisture wicking, and lightweight comfort.  These fabrics make up Ashworth’s Third Groove Performance line, so named because a perfectly struck golf shot makes contact on the third groove of the clubface.  These shirts are Ashworth’s version of the sweet spot.

Ashworth’s new Ashworth Organics line is a fashionable step towards making golf more environmentally friendly.  These shirts feature classic designs that are made of sustainable, recyclable, or 100% organic cottons.  Much as hybrid car designs are taking the automotive industry by storm, Ashworth Organics is aiming to change the face of golf apparel for the better.

The next generation of golfers may be surprised to find some great designs just for them from Ashworth.  The company’s ASHW 33 line features a slimmer “Mod Fit,” a hip, contemporary look, and the comfort that today’s younger generation demands.  This edgy new line is sure to become a modern classic among golfers that want to stand out from the crowd.

Golfers already familiar with the Ashworth brand should know the company’s EZ-Tech Hi-Def Luxury line.  This amazing line of shirts is as premium as premium gets.  These shirts won’t wrinkle, won’t shrink in the wash, and won’t curl in the collar.  Ashworth’s secret “Innosoft” finish helps make its shirts look great, whether it’s their first or 50th time being worn.  The EZ-Tech Hi-Def Luxury line is cotton as you’ve never seen it before.

There are times on the golf course when looking good is the last of your worries.  For those diehards that can’t be stopped by a little wind and rain, the Ashworth Weather System is for you.  This line of second layer and outerwear clothing keeps performance in and the elements out, letting you play your game even in the nastiest of conditions.

Ashworth’s distinct sense of style is sure to lure in more than a few discerning golfers in 2008.  It’s the apparel’s outstanding performance, though, that will keep them coming back for more.  Twenty years after Ashworth was founded, it’s abundantly clear that the company isn’t going away anytime soon.  Look for Ashworth apparel in a pro shop near you.
