State-of-the-Art Golf Instruction Now Open

Solid Impact Golf & Fitness Performance Center brings a whole new level of accelerated golf instruction to Northern California.  Recently opened in Walnut Creek, The Center offers golfers the opportunity to perfect their swing and improve their game using high-tech proprietary video technology and more.  Wes Woo, owner of Solid Impact has spent years researching and studying the best ways to learn and teach the difficult game of golf.  “The National Golf Foundation has proven that students learn golf 3 times faster using video alone.  We have put together a facility that will optimize a player’s golf performance through the use of state-of-the-art video technology that provides instant video feedback to help build a repeatable and efficient golf swing,” says Mr. Woo.

In a sport that used to use hula-hoops, bamboo sticks and pool noodles to provide instruction, finally, again that’s finally we get to use the best technology has to offer and apply it to our golf game – just like the Pro’s.  And, being that 80% of people tend to learn better with a visual experience, The Center’s technology is a natural fit for just about everyone.

Solid Impact uses two of the best technologies available in the world to assist its students.  The first is the K-Vest from Bentley Kinetics which utilizes three wireless motion tracking sensors to measure a golfer’s hip, shoulder and hand motion during a golf swing, at 120 frames per second.  The K-VEST is the result of over 15 years of intensive research and development by leading motion specialists, including aerospace scientists, athletic trainers, physical therapists, biomechanical engineers and software engineers.  The data from each sensor is sent via wireless channels directly to the proprietary software, Kinesync, for immediate analysis and feedback.  The 3D swing data appears in real-time on a wireless laptop, providing the golfer with a revolutionary tool to improve swing performance.  So, what it does is it teaches the student how to create a repeatable swing while controlling and putting the body (upper torso, hips, arms, etc.) into the best possible positions to improve their golf swing.  Believe it or not, most folks think they might be using the most efficient swing possible – until they arrive at The Center and find that by just fine-tuning the swing (or, learning the proper fundamentals for the very first time) they can improve their scores and enjoyment of the game.  THIS IS A BIG DEAL.  Again, a friendly, critical eye from the staff of golf instructors and the latest technology used to help you to break through barriers in your golf game.  Integrating science-based principles into sports training has objectively improved the performance of the modern athlete while reducing the risk of injury.  With the integration of wireless motion technology, sports performance can now be immediately improved by enhancing the kinetic link, the exciting secret to the future of sports performance.  The kinetic link is a relatively new principle that will change the way coaches and athletes approach motion training.  The kinetic link can be summarized as the body’s ability to create maximum speed and power by properly sequencing body movement.  In the case of golf, the main objective is to efficiently transfer energy from the ground, through the body, and into the ball to achieve maximum velocity at the point of impact.  The kinetic link principles can easily be applied to other sports, sport therapy, and rehabilitation.  The kinetic link principal allows coaches to analyze the true cause and effects of physical movement to provide their students with the simplest, most effective ways to correct inefficiencies.  With the application of innovative wireless technology and proprietary motion software, Bentley Kinetics makes it possible to capture motion in real time, identify inefficiencies, and immediately communicate the correct movements.  As a result, Bentley Kinetics is revolutionizing how physical motion is measured, and optimum performance is achieved.

That’s not all, David Leadbetter, who is recognized as the world’s leading golf instructor, has announced his endorsement of Bentley Kinetics’ K-VEST™. David Leadbetter Enterprises now incorporates the K-VEST into Leadbetter Golf Academies located around the globe. The K-VEST provides Mr. Leadbetter, his certified instructors, tour players and students with the ability to train precisely utilizing the latest in wireless 3D technology.  “The K-VEST makes it possible for me and our certified instructors to collect precise biomechanical data from our students, allowing unprecedented insight into the mechanics of the golf swing. I am confident that this technology is the future of golf instruction,” comments David Leadbetter.  Some of the leading golfers with whom Leadbetter works with today include Ernie Els, Justin Rose, Sean O’Hair, Charles Howell III, Nick Price and Michelle Wie.

The other technology Solid Impact utilizes is the cSwing technology that uses the latest swing analysis and ball flight technology to provide the most accurate and fact-based swing development program possible.  cSwing combines video and motion measurement technology in one simple, easy-to-use software program that allows Solid Impact instructors to measure a golfers swing at any point during the motion and then compare the movements to TOUR Professionals.  The motion measurement system and compiled PGA player data gives students the ideal range of motion throughout the swing, and allows them the opportunity to see their swing, make the necessary adjustments and replicate it.  Students receive copies of their sessions on a DVD so they can watch their swing at home.  When you hear the Founder of cSwing, Phil Webster, talk about the product, you can’t wait to try it, “After taking a few video lessons and seeing their effectiveness, or lack thereof, I looked for a video analysis product.  I tried several but didn’t find one that was technology-rich and full-featured.  So I built cSwing, which is now helping people in more than sixty countries improve.  My experience is that video analysis, along with a good teacher, provides the fastest path to getting better.  With cSwing, I improved from an 18 handicap with a weak slice to a 7 with a draw in two years!  We then worked with PGA golf professionals, tour players and amateur golfers to design a product that is easy to use.  We want to make effective game improvement available to avid amateurs, high school and college coaches and players, and PGA Professionals and our success and customer response have been overwhelming.”

This Performance Center is one-of-a-kind here in Northern California.  “We have brought the best technology and professional staff together to ensure that everyone of our customers will improve their game after the first lesson,” Woo said.  Unlike traditional practice at a driving range, Intelligent Practice sessions at Solid Impact includes use of the video feedback system set up specifically for each golfer to help them perfect their swing and create muscle memory that allows the golfer to repeat the swing on the golf course.  “Our Intelligent Practice sessions for our customers are like having a built-in instructor every time you practice.  Our students come in and take a lesson or a series of lessons, but are amazed at how even our practice sessions feel like a lesson,” Mr. Woo added.

The facility boasts 5 hitting bays all equipped with video technology, a 1,000 square foot indoor putting green, indoor sand trap and fitness workout equipment to improve all aspects of the golf game.  Professional golf instruction, training programs and club fitting and repair services are also available.  Already several top golf programs are using the facility like UC Berkeley’s women’s team and more.  And, everyone from top amateurs to weekend hackers are being drawn to The Center to understand their swing even better and create separation between themselves as superior players and winners (and maybe even those that now pick up a couple extra dollars from their weekend playing partners) versus those that don’t have access to the instruction.

But it’s not just about the high-technology and golf instruction at Solid Impact, it’s also a great place to get your golf workout in.  Do some cardio prior to beginning your swing sessions on a number of different types of exercise equipment like treadmills and exercise bikes.  Certified Golf Fitness Instruction is awaiting you along with stretching and Pilates training.  And don’t stop there, be sure to use the free weights, the weight machines, or step into the CORE TRAINING AREA for core strengthening and stabilization with its medicine balls, balance balls and more, all there to make your experience at The Center the best and most complete possible!

When you’re ready to cool-down, settle into one of the leather sofas at the Lounge area to kick up your feet and view golf-related programming on the massive flat-panel television or pick up the latest golf magazines to thumb through. Alternatively, the Study Area with its Internet hook-up is a perfect area for students or others wishing to have some quiet time.

The National Golf Foundation reports that over 2.5 million golfers took lessons during the last 12 months.  Are you one of these folks, and if not, why not?  Now is the time to just do it.  It’s only natural that this technology has been developed and its actually very easy to be a beneficiary of all the knowledge and high-tech training methods that have gone into the Performance Center.  Call Wes to take your game to the next level and lower your scores!  Schedule your first visit to Solid Impact Golf & Fitness Center now at 925 933-4653.
