Lake of the Ozarks Junior Golf Association

The Lake of the Ozarks Junior Golf Association is a non-profit organization established under guidelines set by the Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3), with the majority of its funding being provided by the generosity of several Lake of the Ozarks area supporters. The program, now in its 14th year of existence, aims to meet the need of exposing children to the fun and benefits of an organized golfing program for our youth.

The LOJGA includes a Scholarship Program this year with three $1,500.00 scholarships being awarded to area high school seniors currently enrolled in the program. A Tournament Series, along with a ‘Play at the Lake’ Program, provides learning and play opportunities for current junior members, new members and any child in the lake area who has an interest in the game of golf. The main goal of this association is to expose not only the game of golf, but also the life lessons it teaches as well, to every child in the counties surrounding the Lake of the Ozarks. The Lake Ozark Junior Series is open to boys and girls from the ages of 8-18 years old who have not yet attended college, and who are members of the LOJGA ‘Play at the Lake’ Program. They must reside in any of the following counties: Camden, Morgan, Miller, Laclede, Pulaski, Dallas, Hickory, Benton, Phelps, Moniteau, Pettis or Cole.

There is a 9-Hole Division made up of children from the ages of 8-13 years of age, and an 18-Hole Division made up of children from the ages of 14-18 years. Players must have reached the minimum age for each division by July 15, 2006 in order to be eligible to participate in that divisions play, and must not reach their 19th birthday by September 1, 2006. The Lake of the Ozarks Junior Golf Program also offers a Mini-Nine Golf League for those individuals just getting started in the game, and assorted Junior Golf Clinics and Camps held at several of the area courses.

The ‘Play at the Lake’ Program provides a Lake Ozark Junior Golf Card, which allows golfing privileges to players up to the age of 18 on many area golf courses at discounted rates. These courses include Bay View Golf Club, Deer Chase Golf Club, Dogwood Hills Golf Club, Eldon Golf Club, Indian Rock Golf Club, Lake Valley Country Club, Lebanon Country Club, Tan-Tar-A’s Oaks and Hidden Lakes courses, Osage National Golf Club, Rolling Hills Country Club, Richland Golf Club, Seasons Ridge Golf Club, Witch’s Cove Golf Club, Sycamore Creek Golf Club, Minor Golf Course at the University of Missouri-Rolla, Rose’s Run in Lebanon, Old Kinderhook Golf Club, and Bear Creek Valley Golf Club. Discounts on purchases at Birdies and Tee’s in the Osage Village Mall are yet another cardholder benefit.
