It’s fitting that The Sterling Inn and Buck Hill Golf Club have partnered to offer one of the best stay-and-play experiences in the Pennsylvania’s Poconos region. The Sterling Inn has been known for it’s fine food and warm accommodations for more than 100 years, while Buck Hill will celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2007. Both offer the elegant touches and hospitality of years gone by combined with the modern amenities that we have come to expect and appreciate during a relaxing golf getaway.
Stay
The Sterling Inn offers a variety of accommodations to suit any style and budget. In the Main Inn, Lodge and Guest House, there are traditional rooms (all with private baths) decorated with country furnishings and antiques, the prevalent style throughout the inn. Telephones, cable TV, free wireless Internet access, and air conditioning are all standard. Located in the Nearbrook and Wayside buildings, the Country and Victorian Suites offer fireside and deck views of Wallenpaupack Creek. The Country Cottage suites are situated near the start of the inn’s nature trail and feature fireplaces, two-person hot tubs, and four-poster beds. For those in need more space, there are also individual, one to three-bedroom cottages available.

The Sterling Inn’s Buck Hill Golf Connection package combines a great stay at the inn with a round of golf at the historic Buck Hill Golf Club, featuring 27 holes designed by Donald Ross. The package includes lodging in one of the inn’s traditional rooms, full breakfast, 18 holes of golf and cart fees. Rates range from $85-$110 per person midweek.
The golf course itself first opened as nine holes in 1907, one of the first in the area. A second nine followed in 1914 and, in 1922, the third nine was added. Today, the three nines are known for their classic styling, dramatic elevation changes and well-conditioned, wooded setting. They are supported by a driving range, putting green, PGA and LPGA professionals and Fairway Grille Restaurant.
