Tucked away on the gracefully flowing Carson River, this challenging course offers a blend of opportunities, for children, for moms, and for the golfing dad.  Construed as a relatively benign course because of its length, it is not to be taken lightly as double bogeys lurk on almost every hole.  Beautiful rock bottomed streams line and criss-cross this clever little Red Swift layout.  The fairways and the greens are set in among large old-growth cottonwoods, water and big trees, only two of the many challenges that face golfers on this tricky little layout.  Water comes into play on 13 holes, so it is not your basic muni round.  Besides the water and trees, you will find small poker chip greens that hold but are relatively quick, and have masterful undulations.  A favorite hole on the course is the 10th, a slight dogleg right, O.B. right, and at 446 yards, it will take two terrific shots to get there.  Protected by two bunkers, a birdie creates great satisfaction, par being pretty darn good too!  Overall, the greens are in very good shape, and the overall synopsis: Fun course, and great for the whole family.

FAMILY GOLF:  Carson Valley Golf Course is a terrific family venue.  Dads, moms, and the kids can all enjoy this layout, and all at the same time.  C.V.G.C. has been designated by national recognition as a U.S. Kids “family course,” one of only two in the country.  If you are interested in creating a bond through golf, you should plan on this area for vacation.  This destination is within minutes of tourist spots such as Virginia City, and Lake Tahoe.

The green tees, (the farthest advances tees for kids) are the youth tees that are from 40 to 165 yards out.  Bunkers and other hazards that do come into play challenge players from any of the tee boxes selected for play.
