Ben Hogan TK15

Unique Features: Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company is back! The new TK 15 integrated wedges are forged from premium 1025 Carbon Steel, and offer soft feel and the high performance the company hopes meets the standards of Hogan the player. Utilizing what the company calls its Precise Loft System and Hogan FitTM fitting methodology. The TK 15 wedges are designed to seamlessly integrate with a full set of irons to ensure optimal gapping by having the ability to choose from the 44 loft options.

Bridgestone J15 Black3 • $120

Unique Features: Featuring a non-glare black oxide finish and Tour preferred tear drop shape design, these premium forged carbon steel wedges are heat treated to enhance durability and deliver a soft feel. Machine milled faces increase surface roughness for added spin. Aggressive conforming U grooves allows for maximum channeling of dirt and debris to ensure consistent ball to face contact. They are available in 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60° with True Temper Dynamic Gold Spinner shafts.

Tester Comments:
Really forgiving if I mishit. Works great out of sand or off the fairway … Sand shots are effortless with both a squared up face and wide open … Pitches and chips go exactly where you aim… This MacDaddy PM design is the real deal

Callaway Mack Daddy Grind • $130

Unique Features: Designed by Phil Mickelson, it has a unique shape with more surface area, 39% more groove area that goes all the way across the face, and a high toe that moves the weight higher so that it’s easier to hit shots out of deep rough. Phil Mickelson gave direct input to Callaway wedge maker Roger Cleveland and they took a Mack Daddy 2 Wedge and grinded out the high toe shape, added materials, and had Phil constantly test it on Tour until the look and performance were exactly what he wanted.

Tester Comments:
Dual sole gives more finesse … very high natural flight … Easy to hit out of the bunkers … Center strikes hits are very solid feeling.

Nike Engage Toe Sweep • $130

Unique Features:
Used in Tour victories by Michelle Wie and Rory McIlroy, the Toe Sweep wedge features a wide toe and narrow heel to keep the club face open through impact. Modern Muscle geometry centralizes the center of gravity for more consistent turf interaction. Nike’s Tour Garnet Blast Face is claimed to be 400% rougher to deliver more spin on less than full shots. Aggressively machined X3X grooves deliver maximum USGA-legal spin on fuller shots. The finish is designed to rust over time to further increase surface roughness.

Tester Comments:
Nice balance and a lighter feel than most muscle back wedges … Extra stabile and very forgiving ... Around the green the Ping Glide performed well

Ping Glide
• $130

Unique Features: The Ping Glide wedges are cast from 431 steel to soften feel are available in 13 loft/sole options, all with loft-optimized Gorge Grooves to achieve the ideal trajectory and spin. They feature a thinner, tapered hosel that goes through sand better and proprietary Dylawedge grips that are ¾” longer with softer tapering, allowing the player to grip down for better control. Three sole grinds, wide, standard and thin, with optimized bounce configurations optimized for spin consistency and versatility are offered.

Tester Comments:
Easy to manipulate ball flight on both full swings and shots closer to the green … Both out of the rough and fairway, the ball gets airborne quickly and stops as predicted … Cuts through sand and rough admirably

Wilson Staff FG Tour • $100

Unique Features: his wedge feature the company’s Traction Control technology to enhance spin on both long and partial shots. Aggressive Tour-Y grooves are milled for consistency and enhance spin on full swings. Micro-spin enhancers, or sets of 11 laser-etched lines between each groove, enhance spin on partial swings. The Traditional sole features optimal width and camber for a player with a medium to steep swing. The Tour Grind sole features a thinner effective sole width for players with a medium to shallow angle of attack.
