CVS Health Charity Classic
The CVS Health Charity Classic will be held June 28-30 at Rhode Island Country Club in Woonsocket, R.I.

Among those committed to play are hosts Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon, J.B. Holmes, Keegan Bradley, Steve Stricker, Jimmy Walker, Bill Haas, Hunter Mahan, Jon Curran, Bo Van Pelt, Billy Horschel, Juli Inkster, and Lexi Thompson.

The CVS Caremark Charity Classic is Rhode Island’s largest charitable sporting event and generates funds that are distributed to nonprofit organizations that provide vital funding to a range of programs serving children and families across Southeastern New England. In 2014, the CVS Caremark Charity Classic raised nearly $1.3 million, bringing the total funds raised since its inception to more than $18 million.

The pros are paired into 10 two-person teams. Each team’s hole score is determined by the better score of the two players. In the event of a tie at the conclusion of 36 holes, the playoff hole will be the 18th. This year’s tournament carries a purse of $1.5 million. Last year’s event was won by the team of and Bo Van Pelt with a score of 20-under-par. The first round of the tournament is Monday and the final round the following day.

A number of ancillary events will take place during the tournament. There will be an All Kids Can Three-Hole Challenge presented by Kimberly Clark, which is designed to offer children of all abilities a chance to participate in the tournament and experience golf, just like the pros. There’s also the Pepsi MAX Shootout and Pepsi Pro-Am the Sunday of the three-day event. Back again this year is a walking path around the golf course that features interactive health and wellness stations. The Path to Better Health encourages fans to participate in fun and educational health-focused activities as they follow golf competition. New in 2015, the Charity Classic has partnered with Charity Miles to track fans steps around the course and help support great charities.

Charity Classic Community Day includes free admission to the pro-am on Sunday, June 28. Fresh Truck, a mobile healthy food market that supports food access and community health, will set up shop at the CVS Health Charity Classic on Sunday. The first 150 visitors will receive a free CVS Health Charity Classic recipe starter kit including all the fresh ingredients needed to make the featured recipe and a reusable tote. The Fresh Truck pop-up market, where fans can shop, will feature seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Single, good-any-day tickets ($25) for the 2015 CVS Health Charity Classic are on sale at cvshealthcharityclassic.com. Children 17 and under are free with a ticketed adult. Tickets for the CVS Health Charity Classic are also available through a special offer at CVS/pharmacy stores in Rhode Island as well as select CVS/pharmacy locations in Southeastern Massachusetts. First responders and their families also receive free admission with a valid ID.
