The World Golf Championships - American Express Championship will be held at Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco from Oct. 4-9, 2005. This four-day, stroke-play Championship with no cut ensures that all players in the field will compete the entire week. The American Express Championship features a filed of approximately 70 players comprised of the top 50 players from the Official World Golf Ranking, plus leading money winners from the world’s six major tours. Past champions include Tiger Woods, a three-time winner, Ernie Els and Mike Weir.
The American Express Championship alternates venues between the United States and Europe. The 2004 event took place at Mount Juliet Conrad in Ireland. Long recognized as one of the hidden gems in the golfing world, Harding Park Golf Course has recently undergone an extensive improvement process to elevate its layout to world-class standards. This historic venue will provide a challenging test to the best players in the world during the 2005 American Express Championship. Two of the Par 5’s will be changed to Par 4’s to create added difficulty for the Pros, so the course will play as a Par 70 for the event. The conditioning and layout are truly spectacular. This course should go on your MUST-PLAY list. Get over there sometime before the event so you can attend and know what to expect on-course, or when you watch it on TV you’ll get a feel for where the Pros are on-course and how you played the same holes.
