Simsbury Farms Golf Course, which measures 6,509 yards in length from the championship markers, was designed by renowned architect Goeffrey Cornish and opened for play in 1972.
Recognized as one of the top 100 courses in New England “The Farms” provides an excellent test of golf and a very visually pleasing round for players of all levels. A driving range and large practice green as well as a newly constructed club house compliment the golfing complex..
Simsbury Farms Golf Course has been host to tournaments such as the Connecticut State Women’s Amateur Championship State High School Golf Championship, Connecticut Men’s Public Links Championship and most recently the Connecticut Senior Open. It was also the first public golf course in Connecticut to achieve certification as an Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary.
Many of the par-fours are on the short side, as are a few of the par-fives, and you can score here if you drive the ball straight. But there are hazards in the form of bunkers, water and trees that line many of the well-cared-for fairways. The 18th is one of the best finishing holes in the state, a 420-yard par-four that again doglegs sharply to the left. The drive is from an elevated tee box and the putting surface is surrounded by bunkers.
