When I talked to Ben Zylstra, president of Innovex Golf, he was thrilled over Matt Kuchar winning the Tournament Players Championship using one of his company's putters, a Rife Barbados to be exact.
Innovex was founded in 2004 with the goal of offering premium golf products. The company has launched two lines of acclaimed golf balls and recently purchased Rife putters.
"When we acquired Innovex and later Rife we saw an opportunity to build a world class brand that would offer top tier products for golfers of all levels," said Zylstra. "The Rife putters have our patented (roll groove) horizontal grooved face and lie align system, which both lead to superior play and performance. We also use only top quality materials and metals, which gives our putters the best performance and quality."
Innovex, which has offices in Seattle and Orlando, also introduced the V-motion golf ball, a three-piece cast urethane Tour ball, last summer. The ball was awarded a Golf Digest Hot List award. This past January, Innovex launched its new Tropical Finish putters in seven models, as well as the Deep Blue Belly putter.
"The reaction from consumers has been great," said Zylstra. "The golf balls have received great reviews and we are getting a great response from retailers. The putters have been extremely well received. We have seen our numbers on the Tour increasing and customers love the new tropical finish and belly models."
Zlystra told me that Innovex has six new putters coming out in July in standard and Belly lengths.
"These will be our first newly designed models since Rife became a part of Innovex and we are expecting a great response. We already have them in play on every major Tour and believe this is just the beginning. We will be launching many new products in the fall and winter as well. Expect to see a new Innovex/Rife embracing all of the great parts of our history but with a renewed focus on design and cutting edge technology."
Innovex is dedicated to the future. With 13 employees, the company has a staff dedicated strictly to research and development of putters.
"We have expanded a lot this past year, hiring eight new employees. We have lots of plans to grow both Innovex and Rife in the United States and worldwide and will keep adding the support needed to do that."
The Rife Tropic Finish putters have a durable finish that is created through an intricate ti-plating process. The result is a putter that is very wear-resistant. Rife originally burst onto the scene with its Two Bar Mallet and Blade putters, which featured self-adjustable lie angle, speed weighting system, four-point stability weighting and RollGroove Technology. The company also has Two Bar Hybrid and Two Bar Hybrid Tour models.
The Island Series was introduced in 2007 and became an instant hit, being named the 2007 Mallet of the Year. The Island Series is a more classic, traditional style putter line but with the same technology that made the Two Bar Mallet and Blade such hits.
The E-motion golf ball is a three-piece design that has a Progressive Motion Dual Core to fly father, spin faster and feel softer, while offering great durability.
The company's V-motion golf ball has a 318-dimple design pattern that reduces drag and increases carry and distance. It also is designed to provide high spin and great feel around the greens.
